Life's not fair! It's never been fair, but while adults might just accept that, I know something's gotta change. And it's gonna change, just as soon as I become an adult and get some power of my own.
muahaha how convenient !
ahah moochin off of liver :D
Crystal Children’s Choir Camp 2003 was interesting, to say the least. The first day, I had to admit, I was feeling pretty grumpy waking up at 8:30. After I arrived at union church, I got a chance to see all my wonderful Jingjing friends that I haven’t seen in a month J Catherine’s, Jessica’s, and my mom stood by the bus the longest because..they were talking. Soon after, the bus took off to our destination: Santa Cruz. After we arrived at Santa Cruz, we got a chance to unpack and find our dorms. Me and Jess, Yuning and Steph, and Steph Chiao and Catherine were by ourselves in the 'CG' dorm, first floor. There weren’t any teachers or anyone else, so I was thinking like 'you know what? If a serial killer comes in, then we're the first ones to be killed. (Yes, my friends looked at me strangely.) About 30 minutes later, everyone found out about youth after orientation. When Jiang lao shr was calling out the names of the people who got in, I remember that everyone was really, really quiet. Some of my friends got in, but some didn’t. Ah..=( Anyway, me and Yuning were sort of excited, because it was our 'very first youth practice' Hm.. I don't really remember that much about the first day anymore, just that it was really tired walking around and around to the music center and dorms and back. I forgot how tiring it was last year, but it was still pretty fun. The practices and songs were much more interesting this year, as we had a new conductor: Rupert Lang.
Day two: We had the scavenger hunt! It was different than last year’s, considering how we put all of the items onto someone’s head, but we still used a sock to store the items. It was pretty interesting this year, because my group won! J Then for the rest of the day, I think that we had a lot of practices. I have to admit, I missed my private shower and my bed, but it wasn’t too bad at SC.
Day three: This day was probably the most interesting day out of the five that we spent at SC. Again, we had a lot of practices, but at this time, I think that everyone was starting to get used to it. During lunch, all of my friends went back to the dorms incredibly fast, for some strange reason, leaving just Andrea and I. We were sort of curious as to why everyone went back to the dorms, and so we decided to go and investigate. After we got back to CG, we realized that there was a lot of screaming and laughter coming from me and Jessica’s room. After I knocked on the door, someone flung it open, about 100 balloons were thrown in my direction, and I hear around sixteen voices shout “SURPRISE!” I was shocked, although I knew that they were planning something nifty for my birthday. I’d like to say thanks to everyone who helped blow up the balloons, and for making my birthday so much fun J Especially Jennifer Lien, who was the coordinator!! Then parent’s visiting started around 4, I think. I have to admit, it was nice seeing my parents again. Around 7, the dance/movie started. Suffice it to say that the dance was definitely the most..complicated one that I’ve ever attended.
Day four: Today was probably the most vocal work of all, because we had vocal training today! Before vocal training w/ the teachers, this acapella group came to lecture on singing, as well as to perform for us: they sounded incredibly good. After all of the rehearsals and dinner, it was time for the ‘sleepover’-meaning, we all got to stay up until 12:30 AM. I’d have to say that there were some serious problems going around, but everyone eventually talked through it. Since it was the last night, everyone took a lot of pictures- if anyone would care to see mine, ask me! Perris and I finally got to take our dorky picture! Special thanks to Jerry, who let us use his laptop :] How I missed my computer! Hm. Jessica and I decided to stay in our regular room to sleep in, since we didn’t feel like sleeping on the ground.
Day five: Today was the last day of music camp! As one recalls, me and Jessica’s room still had 100 balloons floating around from my birthday. We couldn’t figure out exactly how to pop the balloons without making each popped one sound like a gunshot, but we finally did. Actually, the only thing that we needed to do was to cut the part where the balloon was knotted together. After breakfast, there was a final rehearsal, and then we had our performance for the JingJing teachers who were present at camp. After the performance and lunch, it was time to finish packing and to board the bus. Our destination? The Santa Cruz Boardwalk! We spent about 2 ½ hours there, and Jessica, Catherine, Yuning, Stephanie, and I went on three rides. After Jessica and I paid money for the haunted house ride, I suddenly decided that it was a bad choice to go on. However, the lady operating the ride just told us to stay on the ride. I couldn’t really say how ‘scary’ the ride actually was, since we spent covered our eyes and spent the entire time screaming. Our last stop at the boardwalk was the beach, where we encountered the wonderful waves and seagulls. At 4, however, we were forced to go back to the buses, where everyone exchanged their final goodbyes with friends who lived farther away. An hour later, we returned to union church, where we picked up our belongings and met up with our parents. And thus, my dear readers, concludes Crystal Camp 2003.
I have to say, I learned a lot from Rupert Lang and the staff of JingJing over camp. I feel grateful for the new friendships that I made, new knowledge that I acquired from vocal training, the tireless efforts of the JingJing staff that made this camp possible, and the wonderful exercise from walking to the music hall and back to the dorms. My second choir camp was a blast, and I hope that next year, my final year in Crystal, will be just as great.
ahahahahah.
